The Controversial Art…….
This is what got me to the internet in the first place! What can I say? Most of you know what I do! I must tell you that from this point on I will be going for the knockout in every expression. Meaning, that I have found my stride artistically after many years of experimentation and will hit the ground running with this website. I must also add that many of my pieces WILL BE of an adult nature as needed.
Since being shunned from mainstream recognition due to my outspoken and untamed demeanor, I realize that being in this position has afforded me so much more of an artistic freedom than if I was employed by the oppressive media outlets as I have to answer to absolutely no one! And if truth be told, secretly, they are my most die hard fans…..they love creeping up on my pages to “peep” my work!
It’s quite alright with me, as an expressionist in my position, I sometimes feel like that drop dead gorgeous “kept” mistress, who gets a quick but very steamy discreet “after hours” visit from her affluent high profile married lover in the middle of the night but can’t ever be acknowledged publicly because of the controversy that will surely follow!
I have to admit that I never in my wildest dreams thought that anyone would be interested in the sketches that I was doing and even more so the thoughts behind them. For many here who know me truly and go back decades with me you will know that my drawings are nothing new. It was an ability that I will admit I took for granted for many years and downplayed my talents to the point where they lay dormant for over twenty years!
I just let it go like that because in my mind, it really wasn’t anything special although my parents were hot on me to pursue it and take it to the next level.
Now often in my deepest of meditations I have wondered if I did myself an injustice by dumping my God given abilities at such a time in my life where by now I might have really become something big. But I have come to the conclusion that the life experiences that I have had to endure have while away from my gift have seasoned me in a unique and great way to where I now possess a far superior insight into the depths of human existence.
This insight has translated into an ability to reach deeper in my creations in a manner that has enabled me to touch many in a special way, or so I am told. Lol!
Now at this junction point in my life nearing the half century mark, I feel so blessed to be able to possess a perception from the passage of time that truly makes me appreciate every gift of a moment that my God has blessed me with. It is in that spirit from which I draw and sketch. I consciously made a vow to produce visuals that will address many issues that others are afraid to touch. Back in the days of high school, there was no internet as we know it and if your culture wasn’t accepted by the mainstream media then you really had no reach into the world of others as you do now because of this wonderful cyber advantage.
So now without any fears of censorship I move forward confidently in bearing my soul in a way that my loyal and loving fan base approves of even when they don’t always agree. Why? Because they know more than anyone else that when they bask in any of my expressions they are getting it raw and uncut straight from the heart and shooting straight from the hip!
The Thought Provoking Blogs…….
I have literally hundreds of blogs written on so many different topics and issues here for you to explore. My free flowing style of writing is influenced by the mood/mindset that I’m in when I write. I can be very spiritual in one writing and quite worldly in the next. We are very complex as human beings so I refuse to alter my intuitive flow as it comes.
I must warn you that I am not the type of person who is afraid to speak my mind. I refuse to curtail my passionate expressions and creative impulses to fit into what an oppressive entity feels I SHOULD be! That being said, I am a considerate, cultured gentleman at all times but will never compromise my point of view “just to keep the peace.”
Wow! All I can say is that it has been such a long unpredictable journey here in my travels online. I never thought in my wildest dreams that it would go this far. From the days when I would purposely spam strangers in AOL chat rooms with my crude but promising artwork to the very joyous present where I get the love and appreciation from individuals from every continent in the entire world!
First of all let me admit, I have never viewed myself as a writer in the strictest sense of the word…….and I still find it hard to say this to anyone, heck, I still find it hard to tell anyone that I am an artist from the underlying fear that they may say that I must be delusional because I am not good enough!
I think that a healthy dose of fear in ones creative expressions is a good thing, it keeps you pushing for the next level and never allows you to become complacent. That being said, my blogs have come about because of my ever growing e-mail box many years back and my inability to actually ANSWER all of the e-mails that I was receiving due to the controversial nature of my art.
At first it was something that I could handle with a good twenty minutes or so of typing, but after the sketches on my old website grew, so did the questions and inquiries into the motivation behind my work. 5 email messages became 10, and 10 became 50…….now once it got to over 100 real email messages from REAL people, I couldn’t ignore them, I HAD to find a way to allow them into the deep thought processes and creative rage that I possessed in full force.
What was I going to do?
BINGO! Why not blog about what my intentions were in my artwork. This way, everyone could go and soak in every anecdote and intention embedded in my creations, in essence, I could go even DEEPER because now I freed up so much time to share more!
Now, once I got into the blogging about my work, I went a step further, I started to write about things in the world that I thought were important, like relationships, principles, personal insights and so on…….
And not that I thought that I was some important person whose thoughts were of such unmeasurable magnitude that every utterance spoken from my lips should be newsworthy by all media outlets as breaking news! LOL! Nooooooo!
But what I did learn that many who took the time to read WHAT I had to say found it quite refreshing! That was indeed a compliment that encouraged me to forge forward with this aspect of expressing myself.
To be enabled to express myself in this manner truly validated the mismatched fabric of the different sections of my life that just didn’t seem to add up until my blogging acted as the thread that sewn the abstract parts of my life into one big beautiful quilt!
I am one of those guys to whom one may consider a late bloomer and as I quickly find myself staring the half century mark in the face so close that I could probably kiss it! I must say that I have never felt at peace as much as I do now from within and it’s all because of the ability to share my life, my creations and my deepest thoughts through this wonderful thing called internet to reach YOU, the wonderful people of all ages, cultures, races, lifestyles and political allegiances who have made my life so very wonderful.

The Hot Topic Videos…….
The internet has surely evolved and the viewing audience has gotten increasingly lazier as the years rolled by. Am I putting you down? No! But do know that in the early years of the online experience, you HAD to read more and were lucky to get a picture to accompany your readings.
Surfing the internet was like eating a box of Raisin Bran cereal that didn’t have enough raisins in it, it was a happening when you DID get a sweet nugget of a visual to look at but most of the time was a dry experience. As time went on, the visuals became more prominent and we EXPECTED to be titillated with photos and our need to absorb the words became atrophied.
As you explore these pages you will notice that I have quite a few videos uploaded here for you to view. Well I feel that it is the ultimate form of expression to allow one to understand the complete scope of what I am trying to accomplish with my site.
The art and writings speak volumes but it brings everything to a new light when you can hear from an individual face to face what they meant in a particular creation or just kicking it in a particular ranted subject. Not only that but as I build the Lance Scurv brand I want absolutely NO DOUBT as to what I stand for in our shared principles. Whether you wear one of my future creations on a tee shirt, or hang an illustration on your wall or scream out in extreme agreement after reading one of my outrageous blogs, you will always know that I will continue to remain down to earth yet brutally honest.
So as you get to know me through my work, do know that I am a real person who feels the same things that you do and strives in the same manner. I hurt, I laugh, I cry, have mood swings and get frustrated and need a few answers to some personal dilemmas just like the next person, but regardless as to where I find myself physically, mentally or emotionally, always know that your Brother Scurv is with you 100% in this amazing thing called life!

Now with the advent and final frontier of video and the YouTube influence as well as services like USTREAM, we are spoiled beyond belief as we now expect to click and watch our information as we evolve into cyber couch potatoes! That’s okay because I understand that to grow, one must continually evolve with the terrain.
As an artist, many have wanted to get to know me as they have enjoyed my expressions over the years and wanted to really see what this madman who calls himself Scurv was like. I think it is really flattering and kind of cool because for those of you who really know me, you know that I am really and truly outspoken and not one of these guys who hide behind the keyboard in cowardly fashion but are afraid to put their face in it!
My video camera goes with me where ever I go day in and day out! This does make for some very interesting moments captured when the feeling hits me to record what flows so freely from within.
