We Are Not Free: The Illusion of Liberation

Many of us believe that by returning to Africa, wrapping our heads in traditional cloth, wearing Ankhs, and adopting African names, we have reclaimed our identity and broken free from the shackles of white supremacy. But the truth is, we are still enslaved. We may change our outward appearance, but the systems that control the world remain in the hands of the oppressor. The global banking system, the financial institutions, the economic frameworks that determine the value of our currencies and the wealth of our nations—all are still dominated by those who seek to keep us powerless. And it is not just white supremacy in the way we traditionally understand it. A group that established itself in a particular country in 1948 has since expanded its control over politics, finance, entertainment, and media, shaping our perceptions, controlling our aspirations, and dictating what we see, hear, and believe. Yet, we refuse to acknowledge this deeper layer of our oppression. Instead, we continue to integrate into a system designed to destroy us, hoping that if we play by their rules, we will one day be accepted.

Even in Africa, we are not free. The land may be ours, but the resources beneath our feet are controlled by outsiders. The gold, the diamonds, the oil, the rare minerals needed for modern technology—these are extracted and sold for the benefit of foreign powers while our people remain in poverty. Our leaders sign away our wealth for personal gain, allowing our nations to be exploited just as they were during the colonial era. We celebrate Independence Days as if we have truly won something, but what have we gained? Who controls the central banks in our so-called free countries? Who dictates trade agreements? Who ensures that African nations remain in debt, unable to rise on their own? The oppressor does not have to physically rule over us anymore because they have trained us to do the work for them.

Our mental enslavement is so deep that we willingly uphold the very standards that were created to erase us. We bleach our skin to become closer to the image of our oppressors. We relax our hair, ashamed of our natural crowns, while mocking those who embrace their true beauty. Even when we claim to love our Blackness, we still desire proximity to whiteness. We chase lighter-skinned partners, uphold European beauty standards, and idolize their women while disregarding our darker-skinned sisters. The poison of self-hatred runs through our veins, reinforced by the music we listen to, the media we consume, and the values we pass down to our children. Our entire culture has been hijacked to keep us mentally enslaved, dancing to the beat of our destruction while calling it entertainment.

And what of those who claim to have escaped? Those who leave the West for Africa, believing they are now free? They may have changed locations, but they have not changed the system. The corporations that own the industries in Africa are not African. The food we eat is not controlled by us. The banks that hold our money are not ours. Even in an African nation, we are still beholden to the same global powers that rule the West. So how can we call ourselves free? True liberation is not just about where you live or what you wear. It is about who controls the resources, who dictates the policies, and, most importantly, who controls your mind.

Until we truly break free from the mental chains that bind us, we will never achieve real freedom. We must recognize that our fight is not simply against physical oppression but against a deep-rooted psychological and economic system designed to keep us enslaved. We must reclaim our minds, reject the false standards imposed upon us, and build our own institutions free from outside control. Until then, we will continue to mistake assimilation for liberation, celebrating illusions while remaining prisoners of a system that was never meant to serve us.The Illusion of Freedom

For centuries, Black people—whether in America, Africa, the Caribbean, or anywhere else in the world—have been trapped in an engineered mental prison. No matter how much money we make, how educated we become, or how high we climb within white-controlled systems, we remain shackled by the psychological chains of white supremacy. The system has been carefully designed to ensure that we never truly fight for real freedom. Instead, we celebrate symbolic victories, cling to integration, and seek acceptance from the very people who have oppressed us for generations.

Our problem is not just external oppression; it is internal conditioning. White supremacy has rewired our minds to value their validation over our own self-determination. We are not free, and we will never be free until we break these chains—mentally, economically, politically, and socially.

The House vs. The Field: A Psychological War

Malcolm X once made the distinction between the “house negro” and the “field negro.” The house negro loved the master more than he loved his own people. When the master’s house caught fire, he fought to put it out. When the master was sick, he prayed for his recovery. Meanwhile, the field negro hated his condition and dreamed of freedom, even if it meant burning everything down.

Fast-forward to today, and nothing has changed. The modern “house negro” doesn’t live in the master’s house anymore; now, he lives in a gated community, drives an expensive car, and has a seat at the master’s table—but still under the master’s control. We celebrate the illusion of inclusion, mistaking it for true liberation. We fight for the right to sit next to white people in restaurants, work in their corporations, and marry their daughters, but we never fight for our own independence.

The Myth of Integration: A Strategic Trap

Integration was never about equality—it was about control. When we fought to “integrate,” we were really fighting to be closer to white people, not to build our own power. Before integration, we had our own communities, businesses, and schools. After integration, we abandoned them to join a system that never wanted us in the first place.

The reality is that integration did not bring freedom; it reinforced white dominance. Now, we are economically dependent on white-owned businesses, politically powerless in white-run governments, and mentally enslaved by white-controlled media. Our people fought to sit at a table that was never meant for us instead of building our own.

The Fake Independence of African Nations

African nations wave their flags and celebrate their so-called “independence,” but who really controls them? The same European nations that once colonized them still own their natural resources, dictate their economies, and install puppet leaders who serve foreign interests over their own people.

Look at Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and countless others—are they truly free? Or are they still economic colonies of the West? Even Libya, under Muammar Gaddafi, was one of the few African nations that dared to break free, and what happened? He was assassinated. The country was destabilized. And today, Libya—once the most prosperous nation in Africa—is a war-torn land where Black people are sold as slaves.

The message is clear: Any Black nation or leader that truly seeks freedom will be crushed. That is why most African governments remain obedient to their colonial masters. Their independence is a lie.

Selling Out: The Role of Black Collaborators

White supremacy has always relied on Black collaborators to maintain control. During slavery, it was the overseer who betrayed his own people to protect the master’s interests. Today, it is the Black politician who enforces laws that hurt Black communities, the Black preacher who keeps his congregation worshiping a white god, and the Black celebrity who distracts us with entertainment while our people suffer.

The system does not need to oppress us directly when it can get us to police ourselves. They give a few of us positions of power and wealth, and in exchange, those individuals help keep the rest of us in line. This is why we see Black politicians pushing white agendas, Black preachers pacifying our communities, and Black elites distancing themselves from their own people.

The house negro never disappeared; he just got a new suit, a college degree, and a corporate job.

Worshiping the White Man: The Ultimate Mental Prison

At the root of our enslavement is a deep psychological worship of white people. Whether it’s through religion, politics, or culture, we have been programmed to see them as superior.

We worship a white Jesus.

We vote for white politicians, hoping they will save us.

We measure our success by how close we can get to whiteness.

We seek their approval, even when they despise us.

We don’t want true freedom—we want a benevolent master. We want white people to be kinder to us, to hire us, to marry us, to like us. But real freedom means not needing them at all. It means building our own power, our own economies, our own systems, and separating from their control entirely.

The Path to True Freedom

To be truly free, we must break these psychological chains. We must:

  1. Stop seeking white validation. Our value is not determined by their approval.

  2. Rebuild our own communities. Invest in Black businesses, Black education, and Black self-sufficiency.

  3. Challenge religious indoctrination. Stop worshiping a white god who was used to enslave us.

  4. Reject sellouts and collaborators. Expose those who work against our interests.

  5. Understand the global game. Recognize that Africa is still being looted, and so are we.

  6. Embrace real independence. Economic and political power is the only true freedom.

White supremacy will never give us freedom. We must take it. The question is: Are we ready to fight for it? Or will we continue begging to sit in the master’s house, happy just to be near him?

The Time for Awakening Is Now

The chains of slavery are no longer physical; they are mental. We have been programmed to love our oppressors, to desire their validation, and to fight against our own interests in exchange for superficial rewards. The time has come to wake up.

We don’t need their jobs, their schools, their churches, or their approval. We need to stand on our own. Until we do that, we will never be free.

The question is: Will we wake up? Or will we continue celebrating our enslavement?
