It appears that at the time of this writing that Floyd “Money” Mayweather is rumored to make an announcement soon that he will be fighting slugger Andre Berto for his final career bout and last fight under the lucrative contract that he has with CBS.
It is also rumored that this fight will be on free network television on CBS.
These rumors are strong ones but remember that they are not written in stone because it is after all Floyd Mayweather that we are dealing with here.
Floyd is as shrewd as they come and understands the business of manipulating the media to keep up a suspense that works to his advantage.
Let’s simply wait for his official announcement but do know that he has already been in training for approximately two weeks so there is definitely something on the fires cooking up next for the fans.
Many who simply don’t like Floyd Mayweather are very upset with him and up in arms because they feel that fighting a B grade level fighter like Andre Berto is taking the easy route when he should be fighting one of the top contenders that could possibly offer somewhat of a threat to defeat him and to give the fans their money’s worth.
Others feel that after winning his first championship way back in 1998, that Floyd deserves an easier farewell bout that doesn’t offer that much of a threat to his undefeated record.
But before anyone writes Andre Berto off they should remember that in boxing all things are possible and that back in 1978 Muhammad Ali thought he was fighting a soft touch in Leon Spinks and we all know what happened then!
