Brother Keston enjoys a discussion where the point is made that apprenticeship in any area of expertise is more respected when the one who desires the training has to pay for the knowledge. Usually those who are learning a trade are not as studious as they should be when they are getting paid as they learn. They cannot be a productive as one who has mastered their craft yet they expect a paycheck at the end of the week. This makes it quite probable that they will take their time learning even more so than a person who is paying to learn out of their own pocket and desire to receive the full responsibilities of a master craftsman as well as the full pay that accompanies such mastery.
