Three Florida residents have been arrested in the alleged murder of Le’Shonte Jones, 24.
Jones was shot in broad daylight on May 3, 2021, outside of the Coral Bay Cove apartments according to Miami-Dade county PD. She died at the scene. Her 3-year-old daughter was also struck and injured, NBC Miami reports. Jones was working at Miami International Airport as a TSA agent at the time of her death.
Authorities are alleging the tragedy was a hired hit job, financed with a federal Paycheck Protection Program loan and they believe three people were involved.
Javon Carter, 29, Romiel Robinson, 35, and Jasmine Martinez, 33, were arrested earlier this week for their alleged involvement in the murder. Miami Herald reports say a newly unsealed arrest warrant claims Martinez arranged Jones’ murder after the young mother agreed to testify against Martinez and two others.
Reportedly, Martinez was arrested and charged with battery back in 2018 for allegedly assaulting Jones. Before her tragic death, Jones showed up to testify against Martinez in February 2020. After the scheduled court hearing for that case, Jones reported being held at gunpoint and robbed in the parking lot by two men, one of which was Martinez’s ex-boyfriend Kelly Nelson, who is currently in jail.
Jones then agreed to testify against Nelson, investigators said.
After Jones’ murder, detectives began reviewing jail phone calls between Nelson, who was jailed, and Martinez, in the months before the killing.
Reportedly in one call, Martinez blurted out that she was “ready to go kill this, ho” and said Jones has to “die.” Nelson has not been accused of taking part in the TSA officer’s murder since he was in jail at the time.
Carter’s phone was also reportedly traced to the area near where the murder happened, at the exact same time the warrant stated. Carter’s phone also communicated with Martinez’s phone 127 times in the months leading up to the killing, suggesting the two were planning the hit.
So sad! This story is still developing.

The United States Coast Guard is continuing to search for a woman who jumped off a Carnival cruise ship while handcuffed following a reported hot tub disturbance on Wednesday (February 16), Daily Mail reports.
The incident took place on the Carnival Valor, which was located about 150 miles off the coast of Southwest Pass, Louisiana, when the 32-year-old jumped off the cruise ship’s Deck 10 at around 2:30 p.m.
Witnesses said the woman, who has not been named, was handcuffed as she jumped off the ship and reportedly hit a lifeboat and possibly a railing during her fall before crashing face first into the Gulf of Mexico.
Several passengers said security on the cruise ship attempted to detain the woman following a disturbance with a man in the hot tub area of the 10th deck, WAFB reports.
“Security got her out of the hot tub,” said Kim Barnette, a passenger on the ship, via WAFB. “Whenever they got to take her into custody, apparently she was upset and went over the rail. And, that was at about 2:30,”
“Apparently, she was handcuffed, she jumped over the side of the ship,” added Darrell Morris, another passenger, via WAFB.
The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed it is still undergoing a missing person search for the woman as of Thursday (February 17) morning.
“We have a fix winged air asset onsite conducting search patterns,” a spokesperson told Daily Mail. “There is still an ongoing investigation as to the cause of the woman going overboard.”
The Coast Guard was called at around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday and sent two sets of helicopter crews to help search for the missing woman.
The Carnival Valor was returning to New Orleans, Louisiana following its round trip to Cozumel, Mexico at the time of the incident.

The list of women accusing R&B star Tremaine Neverson, aka Trey Songz, of sexual assault continues to grow.
On Tuesday, a third accuser filed a $20 million lawsuit against the singer, claiming he anally raped her on March 24, 2016 in California, according to a copy of the complaint obtained by The Daily Beast, which published a detailed report on Wednesday.
In her complaint, the anonymous accuser, referred to as “Jane Doe,” claimed Songz’s rape was “so brutal” that it required her to get “immediate emergency medical care,” the news site reported.
“Trey Songz invited Plaintiff Jane Doe ‘upstairs,’” the suit said, according to The Daily Beast. “Plaintiff Jane Doe believed she would have consensual sex with the Defendant Trey Songz as they previously have had. On the way up the stairs, Defendant Trey Songz repeatedly asked Plaintiff Jane Doe if Defendant could ‘get that a—.’ Plaintiff Jane Doe repeatedly told Defendant Trey Songz NO and to stop asking.”
The lawsuit said Songz almost immediately turned “into a savage rapist,” after he and the alleged victim entered the bedroom, The Daily Beast reported.
“Trey Songz threw Plaintiff Jane Doe to the ground, ripped Plaintiff Jane Doe’s pants off, pinned Plaintiff Jane Doe down face first and forced [his] penis into Plaintiff’s anus without Plaintiff Jane Doe’s consent,” the suit claims, according to The Daily Beast.
The alleged victim “screamed in pain” and “begged” Songz to stop, according to the lawsuit.
“Plaintiff Jane Doe tried to fight Defendant Trey Songz off her, but was overpowered by Defendant Trey Songz,” the suit said, according to The Daily Beast.
During the alleged rape, the lawsuit said another person entered the room, but left quickly while the attack continued. The accuser said she called an Uber to take her home after the alleged assault, but the driver saw she was in “clear distress and rerouted Plaintiff Jane Doe to the nearest hospital.”
A representative for Songz did not immediately respond on Wednesday to multiple requests for comment from theGrio. A spokesperson for the singer told TMZ that “the allegations in this complaint are false.”
“Trey looks forward to having the facts fully aired,” the rep told TMZ.
