THE CRISIS OF GENDER AFFIRMING CARE AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF MEDICAL MANIPULATION

The world we live in today has made it a crime to stand on common sense, biology, and spiritual truth. We are witnessing a society where people are encouraged to reject the body they were born in and undergo extreme medical procedures to align with a psychological belief rather than biological reality. Now, as President Donald Trump signs new executive orders affecting transgender healthcare, we see the consequences playing out, with protests erupting over hospitals discontinuing gender-affirming care. But let’s be clear—no one is being denied essential healthcare. What’s happening is that people who willingly altered their bodies are now facing the harsh reality that medical systems and politics are shifting, leaving them to deal with the aftermath of their own choices.

The Current Crisis: What’s Happening at NYU Langone?

This week, hundreds of activists gathered outside NYU Langone Hospital in Manhattan, demanding that it continue providing gender-affirming care for transgender patients. The outrage stems from reports that the hospital has dropped some patients undergoing medical transition. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has signed an executive order withholding federal research and education grants from hospitals that offer gender-affirming care to minors under 19.

Predictably, activists are calling this a violation of rights, arguing that transgender people need access to medical procedures to “live as their true selves.” But let’s take a step back and ask a critical question: Is this truly a necessity, or is it a dangerous medical trend that people have embraced without understanding the full consequences?

A Brief History of Transsexualism: How Did We Get Here?

To understand the current situation, we need to look at how we got here. The concept of transsexualism isn’t new—historically, various cultures have had individuals who lived as the opposite sex, but this was often more of a social role rather than a medical condition requiring surgical intervention. The modern transgender movement, however, took off in the 20th century, with the first sex reassignment surgeries being performed in the 1950s.

A pivotal moment in this movement came in 1973, when the American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed homosexuality from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). This decision was highly political, with activists pressuring the medical establishment to reframe homosexuality as a natural variation rather than a mental illness. Once that door was opened, the push to normalize transgenderism followed.

In 1980, the DSM introduced “gender identity disorder”, acknowledging that some individuals suffered from deep distress about their biological sex. But by 2013, the APA replaced this diagnosis with “gender dysphoria”, shifting the focus away from mental illness and toward medical transition as the primary solution. This change paved the way for widespread acceptance of gender-affirming treatments—including puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and surgeries—even for minors.

Medical and Ethical Concerns: The Dangers of Gender-Affirming Care

Despite what activists claim, gender-affirming care is not like getting treatment for a broken leg or diabetes. We are talking about irreversible medical procedures—many of which come with lifelong consequences.

Puberty blockers delay natural development, causing potential bone density loss, stunted growth, and infertility.

Cross-sex hormones drastically alter the body’s chemistry, leading to cardiovascular problems, increased risk of cancer, and permanent voice changes.

Surgical procedures, such as mastectomies and genital reconstruction, permanently alter the body, often leading to complications like infections, loss of sensation, and difficulty in future medical treatments.

The fact is, these interventions do not change a person’s biological sex. No amount of surgery or hormones can rewrite DNA, change reproductive systems, or make a person truly become the opposite sex.

So why are we allowing people—especially young people—to make irreversible decisions based on feelings that could change over time?

A Spiritual & Common-Sense Perspective: Our Creator Makes No Mistakes

As a man who believes in God, I cannot accept the idea that our Creator made mistakes when forming us in the womb. You were born as you were meant to be. Your body is not the problem—your perception of yourself is. Instead of encouraging people to embrace who they are, society is telling them to cut, reshape, and medicate themselves into something else.

This is not about hate; it is about truth. If you look at history, you’ll see that every major civilization that embraced extreme moral decay eventually collapsed. We are living in a time when we call truth hate and lies love, and this is just another example of the moral confusion plaguing our world.

The Reality of Regret: The Growing Detransitioner Movement

As more people undergo gender transitions, we are also seeing a growing movement of detransitioners—people who regret their medical decisions and try to reclaim their original identities. Many of these individuals were encouraged to transition at young ages, only to realize later that they had made a mistake.

Some of the most common reasons for regret include:

Realizing that transitioning didn’t solve their internal struggles.

Suffering severe medical complications from hormone therapy and surgeries.

Feeling that they were pressured into transitioning by activists and medical professionals rather than given true psychological support.

The medical industry is making billions off of these treatments, but where is the accountability when people regret their choices? There are no rallies for detransitioners. There are no marches demanding justice for those who were pushed into life-altering decisions.

Final Thoughts: The Importance of Self-Acceptance

The situation at NYU Langone and the protests against Trump’s executive order are symptoms of a larger problem: we have abandoned the truth and replaced it with ideology. Society has convinced people that happiness comes from altering their bodies instead of embracing who they are. But when medical systems shift and funding disappears, those who chose this path are left to deal with the consequences.

I say this not from a place of hate, but from a place of reality: You cannot change what you are. You were born with your sex for a reason, and no amount of hormones, surgery, or social acceptance will change that. Instead of encouraging people to destroy their bodies, we should be helping them find peace within themselves. The truth is not hate. The truth is love. And love means accepting who you are—not mutilating yourself in an attempt to be something you never will be.
