Today yours truly LanceScurv speaks about The Truth Program at the Cheshire Correctional Institution in Connecticut designed to reduce the recidivism rate at the facility and why he feels it’s not a step in the right direction. This program focuses on the interpersonal interactions of the correctional officers with the inmates to treat each other more like human beings as opposed to a dehumanized entity that doesn’t feel the same things that anyone else experiences because it has usually been that they are viewed as subhuman animals that deserved to be caged.
While this “progressive” approach may appear to be a good thing why not focus on the conditions in the streets that placed them there in the first place? Prisons across the United States are being built at rates that indicate that the authorities anticipate an increase in the manipulated conditions that keep the prisons full.
Common sense says that if one wants to reduce the rate of recidivism in these camps of modern day slavery then the same opportunities should exist across the board in the zip codes where the downtrodden live the same way that they exist for a so called affluent people who gained their status through theft and manipulation. Think about it!
