WHY WE SHOULD NEVER FORGET OUR ELDERS!

Elderly Black Woman

Time waits for no one and one day if we are so blessed we will all get old. As a matter of fact, we will be older longer than we will be “young” as our youth will become a distant memory that will haunt us through our possible ailments and pains.

But this isn’t necessarily the worst thing in my point of view that can happen to us as we age chronologically. What’s worse is that the wisdom, knowledge and experiences accrued over the span of a lifetime will be neglected and even dismissed as not being relevant in a world that feels it knows it all.

It really hurts me that we cannot see how valuable our elderly are and it baffles me as to why we simply never tap in to this valuable resource that can transform our lives.

Everyone gets old. But what many don’t realize is that aging neighbor just might be a retired CEO, a Real Estate Mogul, a Dietician, a Spiritual Healer/Visionary, a Military person with high honors etc.

You’d be surprised as to what that mature man across the street might know that could help you immensely. He could be a retired mechanic who could end your troubles with those perpetual car problems. The only barrier to gain access to his expertise is simply a mere conversation away. Talk about a mutually beneficial situation! You get a dedicated mechanic who is within walking distance and he receives something to do that he loves with the added bonus of getting paid in a much needed manner that will boost his limited income.

What about that mature woman whose children are grown and don’t get the opportunity to visit as much as they want because of the hectic work schedules that have become all too common in todays world. Don’t you feel that she might benefit from looking after your children as opposed to these day care centers that herd your children through the day and are only driven by profit? Her valuable vast knowledge would have a profound effect on the psyche of your children and she would welcome every passing day because of the laughter and joy that they would bring her!

There’s also the social aspect that makes one feel as though as they’re needed when they’re personal experiences and life skills are appreciated.

I’ve noticed that in many cultures that are disconnected from the western norms do not throw their Elders away to give them a longer life because of the appreciation of the wisdom that they took a lifetime to manifest.

As long as their mind is sharp there is no reason that our Elders cannot live a full life that can enhance the lives of all who come into contact with them.

So let us realize what a treasure they are and make the effort to reach out to that elderly person who might be lonely or too shy to reach out to a world that they feel may not appreciate what they have to give.

The Elders are the thread that holds the garment of society together, so is it any wonder as to why our present world is falling apart and can’t seem to find the answers to thrive?

The answer is most likely staring at you with a face every day with greying hair and a few wrinkles that they may not have possessed forty years prior.

We need them so badly and don’t even realize the we are in a State Of Emergency without them.

Once we understand this we will know that it was one of the best decisions that we’ve ever made in bringing them into our world.

Peace, Love & Revolution Always,

Your Brother,
