Will our love one another ever be the same was a question that ran through my head all day yesterday as I move about to complete my designated tasks for the day. The reasons why I couldn’t shake this thought from my mind was because I observed so much of a disconnect among my people from minor interactions all the way to the major.
The evil glances, the whispered put downs and the public confrontations were simply too much for me to comprehend when compared to my personal golden era when Black people treated each other with more love, patience and kindness.
Our sense of community and solidarity has all but vanished and remain only in the hearts of a few. Most of our young have completely acclimated to this current do or die atmosphere as it has become the new normal yet they have no clue as to what they are missing.
Will we ever go back to that high level of divine connectness amongst each other that brought us through the roughest of times under White Supremacy’s omnipresent rule or are we witnessing the final breath of life being drawn in the Black Community that is the result of a well executed controlled demolition planned long ago?
What really and truly bothers me is that so many of us do not even seem to care. We have traded off our desire to maintain what little culture, connectedness and sense of moving as one people for the baubles, rubies and trinkets of the oppressor to his delight.
We’ve become no good to each other and ever have become predatory to work hard to snuff out each other’s dreams and aspirations hen once upon a time we gave to each other selflessly and took joy whenever any one of us “made it” in our chosen area of expertise.
Please tell me family……WHAT HAPPENED?
